Golden Triangle Polymers sponsored 10 students from West Orange-Stark High School to attend the 2024 Women in Industry Conference at Moody Gardens in Galveston, TX.
The mission of the conference is to promote awareness of employment opportunities and facilitate support networks for women in non-traditional occupations. The conference mission resonates with Golden Triangle Polymers’ commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and empowerment within the petrochemical industry.
“The conference was very inspirational to me,” Gabriela Bejarano, an 11th-grade welding student who attended the conference, said. “I’ve never heard a woman in person give a speech that really spoke to me. She said if you are in the room, then you belong there. That made me feel good about myself and what I want to accomplish in life.”
Over 1,000 participants filled the convention center to hear energizing stories from women across the industry and had the opportunity to network with representatives from numerous industry companies. Several female employees who work locally in the oil and gas industry participated as conference speakers and illustrated their dedication to empowering women within the industry.
“This conference was so empowering for our students,” Jenny Morgan, associate principal of West Orange-Stark High School, said. “They were able to hear firsthand how diligence and determination pay off regardless of your background or current circumstances. The advice from women in so many different areas of industry really inspired our young ladies to look outside of the box.”
